"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."
                                             -- George Washington

"If we stuck to the Constitution as written, we would have: no federal meddling in our schools; no Federal Reserve; no U.S. membership in the UN; no gun control; and no foreign aid.

We would have no welfare for big corporations, or the "poor"; no American troops in 100 foreign countries; no NAFTA, GATT, or "fast-track"; no arrogant federal judges usurping states rights; no attacks on private property; no income tax. We could get rid of most of the cabinet departments, most of the agencies, and most of the budget."

Liberty Defined: 50 Essential Issues That Affect Our Freedom by Dr. Ron Paul

"Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference. Government cannot create a world without risks, nor would we really wish to live in such a fictional place. Only a totalitarian society would even claim absolute safety as a worthy ideal, because it would require total state control over its citizens' lives. Liberty has meaning only if we still believe in it when terrible things happen and a false government security blanket beckons."
                                             -- Congressman Ron Paul

"The government is best which governs least."

On Sept. 5 Aleksey Zhuravlev, a member of the Russian State Duma, proposed an amendment to the Family Code of Russia that would deprive those "practicing non-traditional sexual relations" of their parental rights.

Though the Russian government recently voted to prevent same-sex couples from adopting, this amendment goes far beyond that. Termination of parental rights is usually restricted to situations involving drug and alcohol problems, violence or abuse. This is just another step on a long road of human rights violations being paved by the Russian government.

President Obama's speech to the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee on March 4 was framed by the media as a repudiation of an attack on Iran.

The well-known historian and Kennedy administration adviser Arthur Schlesinger called it "a policy of 'anticipatory self-defense' that is alarmingly similar to the policy that imperial Japan employed at Pearl Harbor." In this view of "defense," the United States has the inherent right to wage preventive-not preemptive-war at will. That is, to attack a country on the basis of some potential future capacity to threaten the U.S., which they may or may not attain. This amounts to a right to commit international aggression, even if a threat is largely manufactured, as it was with Iraq in 2003. The Obama administration has sanctioned Iran, isolated it diplomatically, encircled it militarily, subjected it to cyber-warfare and commercial sabotage, and repeatedly threatened it with preemptive strikes. Officials call such pressure an alternative to war, but it might instead serve as a prelude.

This elephant's story is just one more reason to skip tourist attractions that include wild animals. These animals are not in this world to entertain us - and they are not objects.

Elephants are extremely intelligent kind and it is familiar that they express emotions such as sadness and mourning. It is assumed that in her young years, Sook Jai was captured and the masters forced her to learn to beg for money for them on the streets of Thailand.

A Yelm woman allegedly addicted to meth gave birth to baby at home to avoid alerting Child Protection Services to the baby's birth.

About 2 months ago I released my first premium plugin for WordPress, my Video SEO plugin. A lot of people have asked me about the how and why of the selling and I thought it'd be a good idea to outline that in a post.

Why sell premium WordPress plugins? Of course we got some backlash for making a plugin available to the world and daring to charge for it. Unfortunately there are still people in the WordPress community who think everything should be free. What they don't understand is that not everything can be free.

Despite a growing caseload, York County has decreased the number of children in foster care over the past six years, focusing on rehabilitating broken families and placing at-risk children with kin instead of strangers.

Recently released data from the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts shows the number of children placed in foster homes fell by 45 percent, dropping from 633 in 2006 to 345 as of this past March. The decrease is part of a statewide trend after a bundle of foster-care-reduction initiatives were unveiled several years ago. York's 45 percent decline outperformed the state's overall decrease of 34 percent during the same six-year period. The number of children in foster care statewide fell from 21,395
