"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."
                                             -- George Washington

"If we stuck to the Constitution as written, we would have: no federal meddling in our schools; no Federal Reserve; no U.S. membership in the UN; no gun control; and no foreign aid.

We would have no welfare for big corporations, or the "poor"; no American troops in 100 foreign countries; no NAFTA, GATT, or "fast-track"; no arrogant federal judges usurping states rights; no attacks on private property; no income tax. We could get rid of most of the cabinet departments, most of the agencies, and most of the budget."

Liberty Defined: 50 Essential Issues That Affect Our Freedom by Dr. Ron Paul

"Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference. Government cannot create a world without risks, nor would we really wish to live in such a fictional place. Only a totalitarian society would even claim absolute safety as a worthy ideal, because it would require total state control over its citizens' lives. Liberty has meaning only if we still believe in it when terrible things happen and a false government security blanket beckons."
                                             -- Congressman Ron Paul

End the Fed by Dr. Ron Paul

"The government is best which governs least."
                                                       -- Thomas Jefferson

Facebook took down movie critic Roger Ebert's page after he criticized the late Jackass star Ryan Dunn for drinking and driving.

What's the right amount of time before speaking ill of the dead? For movie critic Roger Ebert, it took only hours to criticize the late Jackass star Ryan Dunn for drinking and driving. Facebook just as swiftly took the film critic's page down. Dunn had died in a car crash that also took his friend's life. After Ebert's post about the late Jackass star, Facebook pulled the page and put up a placeholder disclaimer saying that the site doesn't allow pages with hateful, threatening or obscene content.

Having a baby in some Alabama hospitals can mean getting tested for drugs without a woman's consent-and winding up in jail for a positive result.

A woman who tests positive for drugs in a hospital can be arrested. For just exposing their baby to drugs, the mother can receive a prison sentence of one to 10 years. If the baby shows signs of exposure or harm, the mom can go prison for 10 to 20 years. If the baby dies, the sentence can go up to 99 years.

All News Pipeline was recently sent an email that contained a very strange warning that was recently given out by a private school near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ahead of the Pope's visit next week in which the date of September 18th was given.

After reading this letter, what do you think? The letter begins: "We are living in very difficult times in this world." Why do they specifically mention September 18th? Much more including a statement from this concerned parent and several more pictures and videos below.

Dr. Cornel West is consistent, if nothing else. But, that's a good thing, I think, especially if one "professes" to be a truth seeker and truth teller.

On a recent episode of "The Smiley & West Show" the Princeton professor berated President Obama for his apparently heartfelt, tearful response to the mass shooting and bloodbath at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Conn., while virtually downplaying and, indeed, ignoring the now routine killings of just as many, and more, children just blocks from Obama's own doorstep in Chicago. Professor West went further than ever before this time in his criticism of the president.

In a world ruled by men, 19th-century women became revolutionaries and reformers who dared to confront their oppressors, not unlike the Occupiers of this century. Suffragettes were scorned by both men and women.

By law, women were forbidden to own property, sign contracts, sit on a jury, have custody of their children in the event of divorce, and get a college education. They also were denied one of the most important rights, the right to vote. In essence, women were the "property" of their husbands.

California is taking the lead to ban the death penalty. Supporters of the initiative include the American Civil Liberties Union, the Office of Social Ministry for the Catholic Diocese, NAACP and some retired judges, reported in Sign In San Diego.

The ban on the death penalty would be replaced by life in prison if the initiative passes in California, and there is still the possibility of wrongful convictions; however, if like Mr. House a person is subsequently cleared, they can be released. The question still remains about what we owe the wrongfully convicted and can someone like Mr. House ever be adequately compensated.

A week after Arizona enacted a law permitting local police to stop people they suspect are undocumented immigrants, advocates across the country are drawing attention to a related issue:

The federal government's ongoing efforts to nudge other police and sheriff's departments policies closer to Arizona's. By 2013, the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) expects to enroll every jail in America in a network that allows the agency to find and detain undocumented immigrants who have been arrested.

Retired police Capt. Peter Christ is about to make more sense about the War on Drugs than anyone you've ever heard in the past. His basic premise is that we need to legalize drugs, but if you're skeptical, just give him a few minutes to convince you.

Highlights include a very honest answer to a commonly asked drug question at 0:54, the easiest question to answer about the War on Drugs at 4:48, the complete destruction of the biggest argument anti-drug advocates use at 7:23, using the Bible to prove the ineffectiveness of prohibition at 13:55, and a rapid-fire debunking of several myths all in one breath at 14:20.

Sun Jifa, a farmer in China, had his life changed forever when an explosive he planned on using for fishing went off prematurely. He lost his arms and when he couldn't afford high-end, hospital-made prosthetics he opted for a cheaper set.

Finding those to be less than acceptable, Sun started building his own pair of arms, which he currently wears. It's an incredible story of ingenuity and personal strength. After creating his own pair of arms Sun started building others. Selling functional prosthetic arms for under $500, he saves people from buying the poor quality ones he was forced to use and helps those who are unable to afford professionally-made ones which can cost up to ten times the price.
