A woman wants answers after she said animal control ordered police to shoot and kill her dog while it was fenced up in her own yard.

The dog, named Ella, was fenced in her yard when the animal control officer showed up saying she attacked another dog, was rabid and needed to be shot. Her owner wasn't home at the time and said none of that was true, but it's too late to save her dog. "It's really terrible and I still get upset about it sometimes. And I still miss her very much. She was a sweet dog," owner Robin Garrett said about Ella.

Lawsuit Claims New W.Va. Vaccine Rule Illegal

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is being sued by six families who claim the agency can't impose new vaccine requirements for schoolchildren.

Beginning in the fall, seventh-graders and 12th graders must be vaccinated for tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis and meningitis. Those who aren't vaccinated cannot attend public schools. The lawsuit recently filed with the state Supreme Court claims the DHHR overstepped its authority. Delegate Patrick Lane represents the plaintiffs. The Kanawha County Republican say the DHHR can't require vaccines without the Legislature's approval.

A few weeks ago, during a conversation about my random thoughts and anxieties, a friend of mine said, in good humour, "Your problem is that you always want to know why things happen, instead of just accepting that they've happened."

First of all, let me start by saying that my friend is absolutely correct. I do always want to understand the why of things. And not in a shallow superficial way, but in a deep, "what happened to this person when they were younger to prompt them to behave and believe in such a manner today?" kind of way.

Ronald Harris, while off-duty, is accused of trying to rob a St. Jude employee at the airport who was giving a family a $1,500 credit card for a Make-A-Wish trip.

A bizarre crime landed a Memphis police officer in jail. Police say off-duty police officer Ronald Harris tried to rob a woman at the Memphis International Airport. According to the police report, he also injured a family member of a Make-A-Wish recipient who tried to stop him. The Make-A-Wish Foundation gave a family a credit card so they could travel and make a wish come true. From the police report, it seems Harris was after that money.

After a mini-controversy about a claim from President Obama that he shoots clay pigeons at Camp David, the White House released a photo of "Obama" shooting a $2500 Browning Citori shotgun.

Problem: It doesn't look like the President's watch. The President is generally seen with a more expensive watch prompting the company that sells it to create this website: Barack's Watch. And that leaves aside why the President, or his stunt double (aka Fauxbama) is shooting a fancy Japanese-made gun instead of a down-to-earth Mossberg or Remington. Or we could get into the Jorg Gray watch being made in China. But who cares?

The Fourth of July is about celebrating our freedoms as Americans, but one man says his rights were violated when he was charged with interfering with sheriff's deputies.

Cellphone video shows the encounter with deputies that put 28-year old Haley in jail. "Sir, I'm in public. I'm not committing any type of crime," Haley says to deputies as they approach and ask for his ID several times. He says after he refused, the phone was taken from him, but it still managed to record sound from the arrest. You can hear Haley ask, "What am I being arrested for?" The deputies reply, "We're sheriff's deputies, and we were conducting an investigation, and you refused to give your ID. That's against the law here."

Forty-four Miami-Dade Police detectives who drove 90 mph or faster more than 400 times while on and off duty are being disciplined in the widest-ranging result to date of the Sun Sentinel's investigation of police speeding.

The Miami-Dade cops, at the wheels of unmarked vehicles, drove faster on duty than policy permits even in the most serious emergency, said Maj. Nancy Perez, a department spokeswoman. About half of the time, they were speeding off duty. The officers will receive a "counseling'' acknowledging the violation, and 39 are losing their take-home cars for a month. Most will also have to attend an eight-hour driver safety training course.

I realised I needed a landing page earlier this year after I released my eBook WordPress Blogging Guide and nobody was downloading it! This puzzled me as it was, you know, free. I figured I needed a landing page of sorts. The graph above shows downloads from July, when the eBook was launched, through October. I added the landing page at the start of October and it nearly doubled download rates. What did I do to make this magical landing page?

Supreme Court Bans Church Under Construction From Having Services At School

Thanks to a Supreme Court decision Monday, a Bronx church will no longer be able to hold Sunday services in a local school auditorium, while their primary house of worship is being built.

PS 15 on Andrews Avenue sits across the street from the edifice Bronx Household of Faith is building, and says, should be ready by the end of summer 2012. The school has been home to Sunday services for the Bronx Household of Faith since 2002. They began renting the public school's auditorium and cafeteria when attendance grew to over a hundred people.
