Initial Security
Scott R. Gane, author of Keeping Safe and Secure thru the Holiday Season, is the Regional Vice President of Initial Security's East Central Region. Initial Security is the fifth largest security company in North America providing security services through its network of over 60 U.S. and Canadian branch offices. Headquartered in the firm's Merrillville, Indiana office, Gane is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the manned guard operations in the East Central region of the United States.
Prior to his current post, Gane was Initial Security's Region Manager where he was responsible for the overall management and corporate oversight of ten branch offices located in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, North and South Carolina and Mississippi. In addition to his management and fiscal responsibilities, Gane provided technical support and design configurations for loss prevention systems (security, safety & fire) for clients.
Prior to working at Initial Security, Gane was Director of Loss Prevention for Tootsie Roll Industries in Chicago where he directed and managed the corporate security program and was responsible for over $500M in company assets.
At American Electric Power's Cook Nuclear power plant, as Fitness for Duty Administrator, Gane managed the on-site initial screening chemical testing laboratory and specimen collection facility staff. He managed and administered the FFD program for the company in accordance with federal regulation. Gane also worked as an Administrative Compliance Coordinator where he assured the Plant Protection Department compliance with regulatory (NRC) requirements and Plant and Departmental administrative and provided oversight to the security force. As Quality Assurance, Lead Auditor at the nuclear power plant, Gane conducted audits of the Plant's Quality Assurance Program, site construction and site contractor activities to verify final resolution of quality concerns.
Prior to joining the corporate world, Gane was a Public Safety Officer for the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Earlier he was a Firefighter and Paramedic.
Gane received his Masters of Business Administration Degree, Suma Cum Laude from Northfield University. Majoring in Science in Safety Engineering, Gane received his Bachelor Science from Northfield University, Suma Cum Laude. A member of ASIS International, Gane holds 19 certifications that include Certified Protection Professional (CPP) from ASIS International, Certifying Scientist (Abbott Diagnostics), Arson and Accident Investigator, Advanced Safety Certificate (National Safety Council), Fire Command Officer Level III (National Fire Protection Association), Advanced Cardiac Life Support; and Law Enforcement Officer (Michigan Law Enforcement Training Council).
