Rapper arrested over canned tea

A video posted on YouTube last week made its rounds across the internet Thursday featuring a man being hassled then arrested...over a can of tea.

The video starts with a man identified as Xstrav (identified by LatinRapper.com as Xstravagant, real name Christopher Beatty) standing outside a car with a can of Arizona tea. The video description says Beatty and friend Tino Brown were waiting on friends before going inside the state-run ABC liquor store in Fayetteville. Shortly after, a man walks up to Beatty asking, "What you drinkin'?" Beatty walks toward the man showing the can and says, "It's a tea...what's wrong with you?"

St. Clair and Bibb county authorities are confirming there were roadblocks at several locations in their counties Friday and Saturday asking for blood and DNA samples.

However, the samples were "voluntary" and motorists were paid for them as part of a study, they said. According to Lt. Freddie Turrentine of the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department, it isn't the first time such roadblocks have occurred in the area.

Its name is cellulosic ethanol -- it's nonexistent but oil companies are still being fined by the EPA for not buying into it.

Peering ahead at the worst possible outcomes of Obamacare five years from now, imagine that individuals were being fined by the Department of Health and Human Services for failing to buy health insurance -- even though insurance companies have withdrawn from the market and aren't offering it anymore! There's something about solar energy that turns otherwise intelligent brains to mush. Paul Krugman, the celebrated Nobel Prize-winning economist, has now joined the crowd. You know things are moving in the right direction when the New Yorker feels compelled to write an article taking note of The Constitution.

People who approach the Constitution expecting to find something akin to the Declarations of the Rights of Man always come away disappointed. Where are the ringing phrases? Lepore makes a good point noting that even House Majority Leader John Boehner recently attributed this memorable passage, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that All Men are Created Equal," to the Constitution. It is, of course, Thomas Jefferson's ringing introduction to the Declaration of Independence.

Governors and mayors across the nation have claimed, liberally, that their emergency powers allow them to ban large groups during the coronavirus pandemic.

They don't want groups gathering in malls, movie theaters or even churches, despite the constitutional protection of religious rights. Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver noted Kansas City is requiring that churches "submit list of members and attendees along with their names, addresses and telephone numbers to city officials for tracking and surveillance purposes."
