FDA's new regulations won't allow non-GMO, GMO-free label

New regulations propose strict guidelines for voluntary labeling of non-GMO productsIn mid-January, the US FDA announced new regulations requiring biotech companies to consult with the FDA at least 120 days before marketing new GM foods.

Previously, such consultations were voluntary. Biotech companies must provide health safety data about the new GM foods to the FDA, and the agency said it would make this information available on the Internet. While biotechnology and food industry representatives praised the new regulations, consumer and environmental groups criticized them, saying they didn't go far enough, particularly in terms of labeling GM foods. The FDA rejected consumer demands for labeling.

Now, after a glitch-filled week of implementation, Obamacare is under attack from the likes of not only Senator Ted Cruz, but also CNN's Wolf Blitzer. Yes, even the face of CNN is offering Obama this friendly advice: "They had three years to get this ready. If they weren't fully ready, they should accept the advice that a lot of Republicans are giving them: delay it another year."

Participants in Vermont's Reach Up welfare-to-work program will see longer-term child care subsidies and an increase in the amount of income the program will disregard when calculating benefits.

Depending on income eligibility guidelines, it would increase the amount of time a Reach Up recipient exiting the program can get state child care subsidies from one year to two. It also increases the amount of monthly income the state will disregard in calculating benefits.
