Californians are outraged after discovering that these firms are excluded from Governor Jerry Brown's mandatory water restrictions, "forcing ordinary Californians to shoulder the burden of the drought."

Our Homeschool Science Series explores watershed science activities in depth for students studying at grade levels 6-9. Our goal of this semester long program is to empower youth and connect students to the natural world. We will meet once a week at the Sierra Streams lab and in the field.

Yosemite Conservancy Donates $5.9 Million to Yosemite National Park

With Giant Sequoias keeping watch nearby, Yosemite Conservancy donated $5.9 million to Yosemite National Park to preserve and protect park resources and enrich the visitor experience.

The donation funded more than 40 project and programs. A $1 million effort supported Youth in Yosemite experiential learning programs that also repaired trails, improved campgrounds, preserved images from Yosemite's archives, and expanded educational programs and exhibits at Happy Isles Nature Center. Donations also funded projects to restore Carlon Meadow, study Songbird population changes, and open an exhibit at the Yosemite Museum Gallery entitled "View & Visitors: The Yosemite Experience in the 19th Century."

Gallagher advises to always decline sobriety tests, especially because these saliva swabs have yet to prove their efficacy in determining if drivers are indeed impaired from marijuana or other illegal substances. "It doesn't tell us when they took it [marijuana], or how much they took, and how is it affecting their ability to drive the vehicle. And that's really what we need to know, to know whether or not that person is a safety risk on the road," says Gallagher.
