SPEARFISH - Information from this year's hunting season on mountain lions will be used by state game officials to make a recommendation for next year's season to the Game, Fish and Parks Commission.

This year's season lasted 45 days and ended when a sub-quota of 15 female lions was reached. Hunters also killed 11 male lions in the Black Hills. The GF&P uses the lions killed during the season as part of its research.

Wednesday, two left-wing blogs posted confidential information supposedly obtained from the Heartland Institute, a free-market, non-profit think tank with a particular focus on battling global warming hysteria.

They posted supposed donor information, inside financials, and even a "confidential memo" on the Institute's climate strategy - which is a "complete fake," according to a statement from The Heartland Institute.

WARNING FOR MEN: This will be a discussion about personal women stuff. Blame it on Media Matters for America.

Morons. Complete and stupid morons. Did they ever bother to do some fact checking? The link leads to audio of Dana's show last Friday. She explained how women can know when they ovulate. MMfA obviously doesn't believe her. Let me tell you something MMfA. I and millions of other women use our cycles as a way to not get pregnant.

Bloomberg recently published a horribly inaccurate post by Jonathan Alter titled, "The Obama Miracle, a White House Free of Scandal."

It's time for Mr. Alter to wake up, remove the rose colored glasses, and come back to reality. President Obama's administration has a huge scandal on their watch and it's called Operation Fast & Furious. I sent an email to him and the editor responsible for the article...

Since breaking news about a July 21 raid on a farm 12 miles north of Denver that resulted in local law enforcement officials seizing 193 rabbits from a nationally-recognized rabbit expert, I've learned more disturbing details about the case.

Without a warrant, officials with the Sheriff's Office descended upon Debe Bell's Six Bells Farm Candle Factory and Rabbitry at approximately 10:30 a.m., accompanied by three veterinarians and several volunteers from the local branch of the House Rabbit Society - a nationwide group comprised of people who, according to Bell, think rabbits need to be raised like small children. During the next three hours, according to Bell, the throng of law enforcement officers, veterinarians and volunteers opened the doors of her 600-square-foot barn, turned off the water to the swamp cooler (an air conditioning system for the barn) and caused the temperature in the barn to rise to 84 degrees.

Tony Katz has an excellent write-up on last week's Rawesome raid, a government action I find absolutely asinine.

Look, I don't care if you want to make the choice to purchased labeled raw dairy or local, organic food. I love to eat massive amounts of homemade beef jerky, young organic coconuts, and oven-baked bacon (don't knock it, only way to do it). I don't want the government busting up in my butcher shop, or any shop, any private facility with proper licensing (copious licensing is soft tyranny) and prevent the private sector, free market exchange of cash for goods. I also don't trust a government that can't find the time to produce a budget, yet can micromanage the citizenry, telling me what I can and cannot eat.

California's national parks are stepping up this summer to offer visitors expanded activities and programs, along with exciting new experiences.

One of the finest wildlife viewing experiences in a national park is found at Elk Meadow in Redwood National and State Parks in Northern California. Roosevelt elk, the largest big game animal in North America, graze on the meadow that surrounds six former mill worker cabins that have been converted into luxury three-bedroom cabins for rent. The elk are curious and will approach quiet onlookers, though they're most interested in foraging.

The Center for Biological Diversity sent a formal 60-day notice of intent to sue today to the Arizona Game and Fish Department for violating the Endangered Species Act by illegally "taking" the jaguar.

Macho B was captured on February 18, 2009 in southern Arizona's mountains, outfitted with a radio collar, and released onsite, then re-captured and euthanized on March 2. According to more than one veterinarian, his capture contributed to his death.

A week ago, a tiger killed a woman who had gone inside the Corbett National Park looking for firewood. The state government was quick to declare the tiger a man-eater issuing orders to have it captured or killed.

While politicians led villagers demanded the killing of the animal, most who gathered to see the animal were not even sure if it was the same tiger. Entering the park without permission is illegal but few here seem to be worried.
