U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky told a group of college students Wednesday the deadly virus Ebola can spread from a person who has the disease to someone standing three feet away and said the White House should be honest about that.

Paul, a doctor and potential GOP presidential contender, made his comments during a stop at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire Wednesday. In his remarks, he called Ebola "incredibly contagious" and suggested it could spread at a cocktail party attended by someone who is symptomatic, according to CNN video footage.

A Montana man has been cited for illegally taking a gray wolf after he shot one of the animals two days after the hunting season for the predators was shut down.

Game warden captain Mike Martin says the man had started hunting three days earlier -- and apparently did not know he'd done anything illegal until he called into the state's wolf hotline to report his kill. He then turned himself in.

United Parcel Service Inc. plans to remove thousands of spouses from its medical plan because they are eligible for coverage elsewhere.

The Atlanta-based logistics company points to the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, as a big reason for the decision, reports Kaiser Health News. The decision comes as many analysts are downplaying the Affordable Care Act's effect on companies such as UPS, noting that the move reflects a long-term trend of shrinking corporate medical benefits, Kaiser Health News reports. But UPS repeatedly cites Obamacare to explain the decision, adding fuel to the debate over whether it erodes traditional employer coverage, Kaiser says.

Kaiser Permanente has agreed to pay up to $9 million to settle a class action that alleged the health plan illegally refused to provide behavioral therapy for autistic children before it was mandated by state law.

The lawsuit was filed in Southern California in April 2009 on behalf of Andrew Arce of Los Angeles and others like him. Andrew was 2 years old when Kaiser denied coverage for applied behavioral analysis even though its own doctors said it was medically necessary. The therapy teaches young children with autism and similar disorders how to eat, communicate, play and learn. It's expensive; costs go as high as $100,000 a year and the number of children diagnosed with autism continues to climb. Health plans have balked at paying for the therapy, which they consider educational rather than medical.

A freshman at Georgia State University started an informal "White Student Union" club on campus, and yep, the controversy and complaints have been rolling in.

After noticing several clubs at GSU dedicated to other races and ethnicities, like the Black Student Alliance and the Latino Student Union, Patrick Sharp, 18, said he started this club "so that students of European and Euro-American descent can celebrate their shared history and culture and discuss issues that affect white people, such as immigration and affirmative action," the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. But, predictably, the White Student Union is being called a racist, white supremacist, nazi-like organization by the - big sigh - Progressive Student Alliance, who's members hung protest flyers all around the campus.

The 2013 Black Hills Mountain Lion hunting season has come to an almost complete standstill as far as hunter success rates are concerned. Not a single mountain lion has been reported killed in the past eleven days.

The last lion was brought down on March 6th in Pennington County. Right now, the number of lions brought down in the 2013 hunting season stands at 49. That's less than half the season limit of 100 lions.

Russia has suspended the import and use of an American GM corn following a study suggesting a link to breast cancer and organ damage.

Separately, the European Food Safety Authority(EFSA), has ordered its own review in to the research, which was conducted at a French university. The decision by Russia could be followed by other nations in what would be a severe blow to the take-up of the controversial technology.

Monsanto, the massive biotechnology company being blamed for contributing to the dwindling bee population, has bought up one of the leading bee collapse research organizations.

Recently banned from Poland with one of the primary reasons being that the company's genetically modified corn may be devastating the dying bee population, it is evident that Monsanto is under serious fire for their role in the downfall of the vital insects. It is therefore quite apparent why Monsanto bought one of the largest bee research firms on the planet. It can be found in public company reports hosted on mainstream media that Monsanto scooped up the Beeologics firm back in September 2011. During this time the correlation between Monsanto's GM crops and the bee decline was not explored in the mainstream, and in fact it was hardly touched upon until Polish officials addressed the serious concern amid the monumental ban.

Students ages 11 and older entering the sixth grade in Alabama schools this fall will be required to have a vaccine to prevent pertussis, a sometimes fatal bacterial infection of the lungs that spreads through coughing and sneezing.

The Alabama Department of Public Health said the need for the tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis vaccine, Tdap, is prompted by an alarming increase in pertussis, or whooping cough, which is highly contagious. In the online community, there was a fierce debate between members of the anti-vaccine camp and those who are comfortable with balance of benefits and dangers in modern medicine...

Rebuilding from scratch - Please visit the home page for more information

When I was 16 my "foster" parents through me out on the streets in the middle of the Blizzard of '96 and I spent the next 8 years battling homelessness. I worked so hard to never have to face that threat again. Sandy just destroyed my house and we don't have flood insurance. The Ex will be in court first thing filing to get custody back of our son. My wife doesn't want to have to deal with that as we struggle to rebuild everything. Dark days lie ahead and there is just no simple solution as I find myself homeless once again 16 years later. This time it is not myself I have to fend for but a wife and two kids.
