Obamacare is a massive "train wreck" with delays, glitches, and problems aplenty. Here are a dozen more Obamacare implementation failures.

Last week, the Obama Administration attempted to spin its announcement of a one-year delay in Obamacare's employer mandate as an effort to implement the law "in a careful, thoughtful manner." Don't be fooled. Even Democrats have admitted the law has turned into a massive "train wreck," with delays, glitches, and problems aplenty. Here are a dozen more Obamacare implementation failures...

President Obama doesn't "have time for a meeting of the flat-Earth society." And he probably considers you a member if you disagree with him on his crushing regulatory approach to climate change.

The heck of it is, the policies he advocates actually would not help the Earth. Before Obama's speech yesterday, Heritage's Herbert and Joyce Morgan Fellow, Nicolas Loris, explained the President's dilemma: "But let's pretend we were able to stop emitting all carbon immediately. Forget the electricity to cool our homes in the summer months. Shut down the power plants. Stop driving our cars. No talking. The Science and Public Policy Institute found that the global temperature would decrease by 0.17 degrees Celsius-by 2100. These regulations are all pain no gain."

Chickens will be happier and healthier if they are let out during the day to forage. At night, they need protection against predators, so they should be kept in a chicken coop or shelter.

The proper size of the coop depends on how many birds you have, what size they are, and whether you let them out to forage during the day or keep them confined to the coop. If the coop is too small, manure will build up quickly in it, and ammonia levels in the air can become quite high. This is not good for you or your chickens. Chickens will also tend to peck each other more, and they will be more subject to disease. It's best to make sure your chickens have plenty of coop space.

Wednesday, June 29, 2011, as I sat under the gazebo watching my son practice his routine on the trampoline, a young buck, probably not more than a year old, came wandering down the driveway nibbling at the tall grass as he came closer.

Yesterday, the graceful buck was struck broadside by a passing motorist on the road, fracturing his left front shoulder and rear leg. My son and I were out for a walk, when he noticed the deer down a steep incline, on the side of the mountain overlooking our house. It was obvious his leg and shoulder were broken, he was bleeding from his mouth and in undeniable distress. Shawn described him as though he were a trout flopping around the boat, gasping for air.

As reported earlier in the year, the state Health Department had promulgated a rule requiring that health care workers who have direct contact with patients to either get a flu vaccination or wear a face mask.

At the time, those options were offered as the latest solution to a long-running fight between DOH and health care workers, including their unions, regarding mandated vaccinations. Now the Public Employees Federation, which counts nurses in their ranks - including those who work in state facilities - has gone to court over the vaccine-or-face-mask rule.

An 87-year-old Denver man busted for growing more than 400 pot plants in his backyard insists he did so legally. But so far, prosecutors aren't buying it.

Edward Bogunovich faces felony charges of marijuana cultivation, possession, and possession with intent to distribute, Denver's KUSA-TV reports. Though police allegedly counted 414 marijuana plants in Bogunovich's backyard, they only seized 183 plants. So why leave him with 231 pot plants of his own? Because even though Edward Bogunovich had more than 400 pot plants, he carried doctor's prescriptions and permission to grow marijuana for himself and three adult children, an arrest affidavit states.

Three months ago, Michael Stec could bench-press 275 pounds. Now the 56-year-old struggles to walk, gripping tightly to the parallel bars at Mercy Hospital, his legs buckling underneath him like broken stilts.

Most people never know how they get sick. But Stec says he can pinpoint the exact moment. He even has a receipt for it: a $32 influenza vaccine from a local CVS Pharmacy. "Something is wrong with this flu shot," he says from his hospital bed, his tracheotomy scar still visible. Stec, who asked to go by his wife's maiden name because he works for a government agency that hasn't authorized him to speak, was diagnosed with a rare neurological disease called Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) November 11 -- eight days after receiving the flu shot.

"Organic" is a loaded term. For some, it conjures up idea of lifestyles of the rich and famous, for others, it is a food play.

"Organic" is an adjective used to describe food that has been grown without the use of certain artificial ingredients: things like high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, artificial growth hormones and genetically engineered ingredients. By law, none of these things are allowed in the production of "organic" food. But all of these ingredients are new to our food supply, introduced in the last 30 years, which is why we now call food that doesn't contain them "organic." In Europe and other parts of the world, they take a different approach, simply calling food "food" and labeling the foods that contain the genetically engineered ingredients as "GM food" and simply not using ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, genetically engineered ingredients and artificial growth hormones given that no long-term human health studies have been conducted on what the impact of eating these foods might be on a pregnant mom or a child with allergies.

A rise in whooping cough cases among teens suggests that the pertussis vaccine may be wearing off sooner than expected, officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday.

After Washington state declared an epidemic in April, the CDC sent investigators here to learn the reason for the spike in cases. The investigation revealed a surprising number of cases among young teens, leading researchers to believe that pertussis vaccines can start to wear off by age 10.
