Yosemite National Park, CA -- Road construction and a maintenance project are right around the corner for Yosemite.

Construction on 24.4 miles of Wawona Rd. is set to begin in May. This project will improve the roadway from the Park's south entrance to the junction of Bridalveil Straight in Yosemite Valley.

Ok what do you do when bad winters kill off much of the game the wolves feed on and they decide to go to town and eat your dogs, cats and livestock and attack people?

And you have a roadless area with hundreds of thousands of square miles that can only be covered by plane or chopper in Alaska and have over 11,000 wolves just in the interior that are over populated to the point they are starving.

Black Hills lion hunters took advantage of near-ideal tracking conditions to kill 40 lions in a 41-day season that ended late Wednesday.

It was the highest lion kill allowed since the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks Commission established the first lion season in 2005, when 13 lions were killed.

It might be too cold to enjoy right now, but sometime this summer many outdoorsy-types will be heading to Newfoundland and Labrador in search of brand new active travel opportunities.

Canada is lining up the funding to create the county's newest national park in the province, in hopes of preserving the land for future generations. They also want to ensure that caribou and other wildlife will have a safe place to call home. They're looking to allocate about 11,000 square kilometers near the Mealy Mountains.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- California Department of Fish and Game officials now say a Fairfield, Calif., man's dog was attacked by a raccoon, not a mountain lion as earlier reported.

Marquel Dawson, 19, said he was playing with the pit bull and German shepherd mix in a nature area at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday when the animal attacked, Sacramento TV station KCRA reported.

The Forest Service today announced that, the Summit Ranger District and the Pinecrest Nordic Ski Patrol will offer two programs in the snow during January and February.

The programs are geared toward families and individuals interested in having fun or getting exercise in the snow while learning about winter safety. Each Winter Adventure will last approximately two hours and will not require skis or snowshoes in order to participate. These programs are free of charge...
