These scenic photos were taken in and around the jewel of the Sierra's, Twain Harte, California. We've lived in this area around ten years now and truly enjoy the quiet, peaceful, serenity of this mountain community. While it's not always quiet here, the winter months are pure bliss.

Twain Harte snow is special, there is just no other way around it. Most full-time Twain Harte residents welcome the snow, like a breath of fresh air. Our family is no exception. I can't seem to get enough of it or stop staring at these idyllic images. I find them so refreshing. There is nothing like a walk in the fresh Twain Harte snow.

One of my favorite things to do is get up very early after a fresh snow and try to get some fantastic pictures before the fresh snow has been soiled or disturbed. It can be a real challenge because those darn snow trucks are very efficient and those drivers take their job very seriously.
I stumbled upon Sullivan Creek quite by accident just a few short days ago. I was so taken with it's simple beauty and serene waters I couldn't help but snap up a few pictures. This portion of Sullivan Creek rests along a private drive not far from downtown Twain Harte. It's a shame that this entire portion of the creek has been fenced off and is off-limits to those who don't live along it's shores.

If you have not tried Picasa photo software created by Google, my friend you are missing out. This free software is versatile, efficient and fun to use. I'm always a little leary of downloading free software but I have to tell you that next to Google Earth, this is one of the neatest free programs I've used to date.
Picasa will automatically search your computer for all your photo's and import them for you automatically. Picasa offers loads of extras. You can get rid of red eye in a snap, share pictures with your friends quickly and easily. Picasa sorts your photo's and images into their own folder, to create a tidy display. My personal favorite is being able to rotate an image without losing quality, which is what happens with many other photo programs. If you haven't tried Picasa, you are really missing out.
These desktop wallpapers are available in .jpg format. I have set them to the highest possible quality. Each image is downloadable at 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution. This should accomodate most screen sizes.
To see what resolution your computer is displaying, right-click on your desktop, select "Properties", and choose the "Settings" tab (this will work for Windows 95/98/NT/XP).
There are two ways to use these images as your desktop wallpaper. The easiest way is to click on the thumbnail of the image you would like to download, then right-click on the image and select "Set as Wallpaper" or "Set as Background". Your browser will automatically set the image as your background.
For those who would like to save these images for later use, click on the thumbnail of the image you would like to save, then right-click on the image and select "Save Image As" or "Save Picture As" (depending on your browser). Make sure you remember where you are saving the wallpapers. Once you have saved them to your computer, you can view them (offline) with a browser and install them as in the above procedure. If you have a separate program, which handles wallpapers, you may also be able to select them from there.
I hope you enjoy these pictures, just keep in mind that they are the high quality images, and are pretty large files, in most cases at least 2 meg. So, be sure to save them to your computer before trying to view them. To view more images of Twain Harte, California, visit Twain-Harte.info
